Kids get chance to quiz PM
Answering questions from youngsters, the PM told Blue Peter presenter Blue Peter Konnie Huq that the inside of Number 10 "was a bit like the Tardis". He also revealed that when in the kitchen he enjoys rustling up spaghetti bolognaise.
Blue Peter and Downing Street are running a kids competition where the winning class will come into Number 10 to meet the PM. You can find more on our new young people’s website. While there you can take your own tour of Number 10.
Sure Start "greatest achievement"
As he toured a successful children’s centre in west London on Thursday, Mr Blair said "this is what a modern welfare state should do." Sure Start now has 1000 centres across the country with more due over the next four years.
Meanwhile, the PM welcomed a report into paramilitary activity in Northern Ireland saying he remained hopeful that devolved government in the Province could be restored. He said the IRA’s campaign was over and urged all parties to seize the opporutunity.
Meeting European leaders in London and Spain
During a whistlestop visit to Madrid this week, the PM held talks with his Spanish counterpart Zapatero where he praised the country’s remarkable economic record. While there he also met with British business leaders.
At Number 10, Finnish PM Matti Vanhanen arrived to discuss his country’s Presidency of the European Union, while the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan came to discuss his own nation’s accession to the EU.
