Leading healthier lives

Tony Blair chats with parents and youngsters at a sports centre in East London 10 October 2006 The first event of the week in Number 10 was a seminar about helping children in care.  As a panel of experts discussed a new green paper, the PM insisted that "no child should be left behind."

On Tuesday, Mr Blair travelled to east London to discuss how to help people lead healthier lives. His visit came as the Government published a series of health maps. Later, he welcomed Indian PM Manmohan Singh to Downing Street for a special summit.

The return of PMQs

Tony Blair at PMQs 11 October 2006 During the first PMQs health of the new session, Tony Blair was asked about health, climate change and ID cards. He also welcomed the tax-free cash boost for British troops serving overseas, which he said was "proper recognition for the exceptional dangers" they faced.

Afterwards, the PM went with the Hungarian PM to visit a display in the Commons which commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the Hungarian uprising. Mr Blair said the action of those who took part showed why you couldn't "suppress the human desire to live in liberty".
