Science is the future
For the fourth in a series of lectures on subjects important to the UK, Tony Blair headed to Oxford to speak about the role science will play in our futures. He said it was vital that we got young people to show more interest in science to boost the "knowledge economy".

Wake-up call
Delaying action on climate change - even by a decade or two - will take our planet into dangerous territory, the long-awaited Stern report warned this week. Tony Blair said the economist's views were a "wake-up call" for everyone.
A new centre for students who have ambitions to work in the world of fashion retail was opened by Tony Blair on Tuesday. After touring the London centre, he said it was"a superb learning facility". Three more similar vocational colleges will open soon.
Also this week
In Number 10 this week, the Prime Minister hosted a reception for people who look after vulnerable children, held talks with German leader Angela Merkel to speak about important European issues and discussed Darfur with the Sudanese vice president.
At a special investment conference in London with his counterparts from Barbados, Belize and Guyana, Tony Blair spoke about how to transform the Caribbean economy. At PMQs, he was asked about the NHS, Iraq and post offices in his Question Time session.
