The Prime Minister has today re-appointed Councillor Jagir Sekhon OBE as a Trustee of the National Maritime Museum. The term of appointment will be for four years from 15 November 2006.
Biographical Details
Councillor Jagir Sekhon worked for the National Health Service in Greenwich for over 33 years and has been a Greenwich Councillor since 1994, becoming Mayor of Greenwich in 2000. She has worked as a Health Visitor from 1990 to 1996 and a Social Worker for Greenwich Social Services from 1989 to 1990. Before that she was a Senior Sister for Greenwich Healthcare Trust. She was made a Doctor of Law of the University of Greenwich in 2004. In 2006 she was given a Glory of India award for Indo-British Relationships. Councillor Sekhon was awarded the OBE in 2002.
