The Queen has approved the nomination of the Reverend Canon Charles William Taylor MA, Canon Residentiary and Precentor of Lichfield Cathedral, to be appointed Dean of the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter, Saint Paul and Saint Andrew, Peterborough, following the resignation of the Very Reverend Michael Bunker on 31 March 2006.

The Reverend Canon Charles Taylor (aged 53) studied at Selwyn College, Cambridge for his BA and MA and then trained for the ministry at Cuddesdon College. He served his title at Wolverhampton, Lichfield from 1976 to 1979. From 1979 to 1984 he was Chaplain of Westminster Abbey. He was Vicar of Stanmore, Winchester from 1984 to 1990. From 1990 to 1995 he was Rector of North Stoneham. He has been Canon Residentiary of Lichfield Cathedral since 1995.
Canon Taylor is married to Catherine and they have two university aged children. His interests include music (choral and organ), current affairs, sport (cricket, football, tennis, rowing), motoring and classic cars, travel, humour, hospitality, food and wine, and idle family holidays.
