Tony Blair and Bill Bryson got together for a chat about two subjects they both care passionately for - science and education.
In a special podcast recording for the Downing Street website, the PM and the best-selling author enjoy tea and conversation.
Bill, whose popular-science book A Short History of Everything was a huge hit and issued to every school in the country, admits he was "dead bored" by science when he was a child.
Mr Blair concurs, saying that science was like a foreign language to him because he couldn’t get to grips with the basic concepts.
But they both agree the teaching of science is vital to the UK’s economic future.
The twenty-minute meeting of minds moves on to subjects such as immigration and their mutual love for the north east of England.
Bill also tells the PM how honoured he is, as an American, to have been made Chancellor of Durham University, where Mr Blair’s father was once a lecturer.
