PM tackles big issues with MP panel

6 February 2007

Tony Blair appears before the Liaison Committee, 6 February 2007 Tony Blair tackled questions on the biggest challenges facing the UK during his latest appearance in front of the Liaison Committee.

The PM, who gives evidence to the cross-party panel of MPs twice a year, began the two and a half hour session with a brief presentation about the Government’s policy review process.

His presentation looked at key Review areas - the Role of the State, Public Services, Security, Crime and Justice, Energy and the Environment and Britain and the World.

Mr Blair referred to a Cabinet Office report which looks at the "lessons learnt" over the last 10 years, and the challenges ahead for the next 10.

The PM has insisted that the review - which began last October - will not take place behind closed doors.

A national citizens’ forum will be held in Number 10 later in the year to give people a chance to have their say. And the Downing Street website is helping people join the debate with online seminars and webchats involving senior ministers over the coming weeks.

Our first webchat takes place with Patricia Hewitt on Thursday. Make sure you sign up for alerts.
