PM in talks with Amir of Kuwait

Tony Blair has described Kuwait as one of the UK’s closest allies in the Middle East.

His comments came as His Highness the Amir, Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jabir Al Sabah, visited Number 10.

The two leaders discussed the strong bilateral relations between the countries as well as other issues of mutual concern to the region.

In a television interview with Kuwaiti television, the PM said:

"We consider the Kuwaitis to be among our closest allies in the region, and the Amir’s government sets an example in its strong message of moderation and tolerance."
