We received a petition asking:
"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Ensure that Liverpool’s Blue Coat School is not designated a Church of England School."

The Department for Education and Skills is currently consulting interested parties about the status of the Blue Coat School, Liverpool. The Government is aware of the controversy that this matter has generated. Solicitors acting on behalf of the school governing body and trustees have raised certain questions about the criteria for designation, and these are being looked into.
The designation of a school as having the character of a Church of England school does not necessarily lead to any significant change in the admission arrangements or conduct of the school. The diocese would have to be consulted about any proposed change in the admission arrangements, but the school would continue to be run by the governing body, head teacher and senior management team.
