The My UK competition, which was run by Blue Peter and Downing Street, invited viewers to turn their views of life in the 21st century into a film idea.

Janet:
This is my UK. My UK is the place my grandpa fought for back in the 1940s.
Grandpa:
There’s a picture of me. That’s taken actually in Germany.
Janet:
Which one are you?
Grandpa:
I’m the one in the middle. I was the gunner operator in that tank. I was 18.
Janet:
Were you scared when you first started in the army?
Grandpa:
Of course I was. You wouldn’t be human if you weren’t scared. But the secret is to be scared
and yet still do your duty.
Janet:
When he was young, my grandpa had no choice but to be a soldier, but because of him
I can achieve my dreams.
Grandpa:
Here you are, Janet.
Janet:
Thank you, Grandpa. Bye.

Grandpa:

Janet:
I can be a famous artist. Grandpa, could you just lean a bit left? And stay there.
Grandpa:
Can’t you paint faster than that?
Janet:
Finished. What do you think, Grandpa?
Grandpa:
Ooh, very good. For Henry VIII. I’m Henry VIII, I am
Janet:
My grandpa had no choice but to be a soldier, but I can be a master craftsman. An Olympic champion.

Grandpa:
Delighted.

What’s your dream now?
Grandpa:
My dream is for all my grandchildren to do well and to be happy and healthy.
