Richard Lambert re-appointed as Trustee to the British Museum

The Prime Minister has re-appointed Richard Lambert as a Trustee of the British Museum for a period of four years from 26 June 2007.

Biographical Details

Richard Lambert is a former journalist. He was editor of the Financial Times from 1991 to 2001, during which time he launched the US edition of the newspaper. In 2003, he wrote the Lambert Review of Business-University collaboration for HM Treasury, and from 2003 to 2006, he was an external member of the Bank of England’s rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). He is currently Director General of the Confederation of British Industry

Richard Lambert has not been involved in any political activity in the past 5 years

Notes to Editors

The British Museum holds in trust for the nation and the world a collection of art and antiquities from ancient and living cultures. Housed in one of Britain’s architectural landmarks, the collection is one of the finest in existence, spanning two million years of human history. The Board of Trustees of the British Museum has statutory duties under the British Museum Act 1963 and Museums and Galleries Act 1992 for the general management and control of the Museum and for the appointment of the director.

The posts are not remunerated. Reasonable expenses can be claimed.

This re-appointment has been made in accordance with the OCPA Code of Practice.
