The Queen has approved that Loyd Grossman Esq OBE, FSA, BA, MSc Econ be appointed Chairman of the Churches Conservation Trust for a term of three years from 1 July 2007.

Loyd Grossman was born in 1950 and educated at Boston University and the London School of Economics.
Mr Grossman has had a distinguished career in journalism and broadcasting, including work on Through the Keyhole (1983 to 2003), Masterchef (1990 to 2000), and the History of British Sculpture (2003). He has been the Presenter of Composers at Home, BBC Radio 3, since 2004. Mr Grossman was a member of the Board of the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council from 2000 to 2006. From 1996 to 2000 he was a Commissioner of the Museums and Galleries Commission. He was a Commissioner of English Heritage from 1997 to 2003 and of the Royal Commission on Historic Monuments of England from 1999 to 2003. He was Chairman in 2000 and has been Co-Chairman from 2001 of Museums and Galleries Month and has been Chairman of the Campaign for Museums since 1995 and of the Public Monuments and Sculpture Association since 2001. He has been the Deputy Chairman of the Liverpool Culture Company since 2005 and is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of National Museums Liverpool. From 2000 to 2002 he was Vice-Chairman of the North West Regional Cultural Consortium. He has been a member of the Board of Culture Northwest since 2002 and Chairman since 2004. He has been President of the British Association of Friends of Museums since 2005. From 1998 to 2003 he was Chairman of the Conservation Awards. He is a Vice-President of the Sick Children’s Trust, and was Chairman of the Better Hospital Food Panel, NHS from 2001 to 2006. He has been a member of the Court of Governors of the LSE since 1996 and a member of the Council since 2003.
Loyd Grossman has written a number of books, notably on food, and also articles on architecture, design and food in newspapers and magazines.
