The Prime Minister has re-appointed Maggie Semple to the Board of the National Museum of Science and Industry for a period of four years as from 10 October 2007.
Biographical Notes
Maggie Semple is Chief Executive and Director of The Experience Corps Ltd and Director of Blue Ocean Solutions Ltd. She is a Non-Executive Director of Her Majesty’s Court Services and the British Library, and she serves as Chair of the Dana Centre at the Science Museum, Chair of the National Research & Development Centre at the Institute of Education (London) and Chair of the National Youth Music Theatre. Ms Semple is a Governor of De Montfort University, the Institute of Education, Brit School and the Sadlers Wells Trust.
Ms Semple was previously Director of the Learning Experience at the New Millennium Experience Company Ltd (1997-2001), Director of Education and Training at the Arts Council of England (1989-1997), a teacher, school inspector and a deputy head teacher (1975-1988).
Ms Semple was appointed a Civil Service Commissioner in 2001, her term of office ending in May 2007. She has served on a number of Government and EU task groups concerned with education. In 2005 she became a Fellow of the City and Guilds Institute and a member of its Council in 2006.
In 2000 Ms Semple was awarded an OBE for her services to education in the UK.
