We received a petition asking:
"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Stop victims of child abuse being abused again by the Law Of Limitation."
Details of Petition:
"I ask that the Prime Minister take a look at the Law of Limitation as soon as possible, to stop it abusing us victims of child abuse once again, and allowing this Law to protect the Abusers of children in the Civil Courts."
Read the Government’s response
In July 2002 the Government accepted the Law Commission’s recommendations to reform the law of limitation in principle subject to further consideration of certain aspects. In January 2007, the Government announced its intention to consult in spring 2007 on the detailed content of a draft Bill to implement these recommendations.
Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to complete the detailed examination of the impact of the proposals. The Government will publish proposals for consultation as soon as possible after this work is complete.
