Gordon Brown has welcomed the winners of an annual writing competition to Number 10, calling them the "journalists, writers and campaigners of the future".
The annual competition, sponsored by the Parliamentery Press Gallery and Dods, promotes awareness and discussion of parliamentary democracy among young people.
This year entrants adopted the role of political advisors on global issues and wrote essays on topics such as trade to Africa and universal access to free education.
Speaking to the 12 regional winners and their parents in Downing Street this morning, the PM encouraged the teenagers to campaign on global issues and continue to highlight their views to politicians.
After a tour of Number 10, the winners visited Parliament where the Speaker of the House of Commons Michael Martin presented them with certificates in recognition of their achievement.
