The Queen has approved the nomination of the Venerable Mark Davies BA, to the Suffragan See of Middleton, in the Diocese of Manchester, in succession to the Right Reverend Michael Augustine Owen Lewis MA, on his translation to the See of Cyprus and the Gulf.

Mark Davies (aged 45) graduated from Leeds University and studied for the ordained ministry at the College of the Resurrection Mirfield. He served his curacy at St Mary Barnsley, Wakefield from 1989 to 1992. He was Priest-in-Charge of St Paul’s Old Town, Barnsley from 1992 to 1995. He was Rector of Hemsworth in the same diocese from 1995 to 2006. From 1998 to 2006 he was also diocesan Vocations Advisor and Assistant Director of Ordinands and was Rural Dean of Pontefract from 2000 to 2006. From 2000 to 2006 he was a member of General Synod. He was also an Honorary Canon of Wakefield Cathedral from 2002 to 2006. He was made Archdeacon of Rochdale, Manchester in 2006.
Mark Davies is married to Joanne and they have one son. His interests include literature, music, food, walking and gardening.
