Suffragan See of Bolton

The Queen has approved the nomination of the Reverend Christopher Paul Edmondson MA, to the Suffragan See of Bolton, in the Diocese of Manchester, in succession to the Right Reverend David Keith Gillett BA MPhil, on his resignation on 31 January 2008.

Notes for Editors

Christopher Edmondson (aged 57) studied at Durham University and trained for the ordained ministry at Cranmer Hall, Durham. He served his curacy at Kirkheaton, Wakefield diocese from 1973 to 1979. He was Vicar of Ovenden, Wakefield from 1979 to 1986 and also the Bishop’s Advisor on Evangelism from 1981 to 1986. He was Priest-in-Charge of Bampton with Mardale, Carlisle diocese and also the Diocesan Officer for Evangelism from 1986 to 1992. He was Vicar of Shipley St Peter, Bradford diocese from 1992 to 2002. He has been Warden of Lee Abbey in Devon since 2002.

Christopher Edmondson is married to Susan and they have two adult children, Martin and Tim. He is a published author and his interests include playing and listening to music, cricket, football, reading and walking.
