The PM has met with members of the British Olympic boxing team ahead of their bid for gold in Beijing.
Mr Brown welcomed the athletes, trainers and former world champion Barry McGuigan to his House of Commons office this afternoon. Speaking at the event, Mr McGuigan said there was an "undercurrent of talent" in British boxing and that the sport had never been in better shape.
He said:
"Amateur boxing in this country has gone through a huge turnaround…all the money spent on boxing has really ocme to fruition as it has never been in a better state. We’re here to say thank you and to celebrate that investment and the achievements of these young men."
The Beijing Olympics will run from 8 to 24 August 2008, with boxing events taking place in 11 weight categories.
