Lord-Lieutenant of West Glamorgan

The Queen has been pleased to appoint D. Byron Lewis Esq. as Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for West Glamorgan upon the retirement of Commodore Robert Hastie CBE RD on 24 May 2008.

Biographical Notes

D. Byron Lewis was born in Swansea and was High Sheriff of West Glamorgan in 2004/05.

He is a Chartered Accountant and has been Chairman and Director of a number of companies in the UK and Europe over several years. He continues to have an active involvement with several companies in South Wales in a non-executive capacity.

Mr. Lewis, who is sixty-three years old, is a former pupil of Gowerton Grammar School. He is also a Freeman of the City of London.

He lives in Sketty, Swansea with his wife Hilary. They have two adult daughters and three grandchildren.

He is a member of Langland Bay Golf Club and has a keen interest in all sports, music, opera and gardening.
