The Queen has been pleased to approve that The Honourable Mr Justice Jacob be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal from 17 October 2003 in succession to The Right Honourable Lord Justice Aldous who will retire from his post on 16 October 2003.

Mr Justice Jacob (61) was called to the Bar (Gray’s) in 1965 and elected a Bencher of that Inn in 1989. He took Silk in 1981 and was appointed a Justice of the High Court, assigned to the Chancery Division in 1993. From 1998 to 2001, he served as a Chancery Supervising Judge for the Midland, Wales and Chester and Western Circuits. He is also a Judge of the Patents Court.
