The Prime Minister has today appointed Ms Amelia Fawcett CBE and Professor Robert Boucher CBE as Trustees of the National Portrait Gallery for a period of four years.
Biographical Notes
Amelia Fawcett CBE has been Vice-Chairman of Morgan Stanley International since December 2002. She joined Morgan Stanley in 1987, becoming Vice-President in 1990. She was appointed Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer for the firm’s European operations in 1996. Ms Fawcett is a member of Morgan Stanley’s European Executive Committee and sits on the Board of Directors of the firm’s major European operating companies. She is also Deputy Chairman of the National Employment Panel, a member of the Prince’s Trust Business Advisory Board, the Council of the University of London and Chairman of the London International Festival of Theatre. Ms Fawcett is a Trustee/Director of the Morgan Stanley International Foundation. She was appointed Chairman of the National Portrait Gallery’s Development Board in 2002.
Ms Fawcett has not been involved in any political activity in the last five years.
Professor Robert Boucher CBE has been Vice Chancellor of the University of Sheffield since 2001. He previously held the post of Principal and Vice Chancellor of UMIST (1995-2000). Professor Boucher was formally a Council Member of the Royal Academy of Engineering (1996-99), as well as Chairman of the Engineering Professors’ Council (1993-95) and Engineering Council Senator (1995-99). He has been on the Board of the British Council since 1996.
