The Queen has approved the nomination of the Reverend Canon John Inge, BSc, MA, PhD, Vice-Dean of the Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity in Ely to the Suffragan See of Huntingdon in the Diocese of Ely in succession to the Right Reverend John Robert Flack BA on his resignation on 1 July 2003.

John Inge (aged 48) was educated at St Chad’s College Durham where he took a BSc in 1977 and an MA in 1994. He completed a PhD at Durham University in 2002. In 1997 he took a PGCE at Keble College Oxford. He trained for ordination at the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield. From 1984 to 1986 he was Assistant Chaplain at Lancing College. He was Junior Chaplain at Harrow School from 1986 to 1989, and Senior Chaplain from 1989 to 1990. From 1990 to 1996 he was Vicar of Wallsend, St Luke. He became Canon Residentary of Ely Cathedral in 1996 and has been Vice Dean since 1999.
He is author of "A Christian Theology of Place" to be published later this year.
Canon Inge is married to Dr Denise Inge and they have one young daughter. He enjoys reading, drama, music and travelling.
