Judicial Appointment

The Queen has been pleased to approve that The Honourable Mr Justice Thomas be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal.

Biographical Notes

Mr Justice Thomas (55) was educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge and the University of Chicago Law School. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1969 and elected a Bencher in 1992. He took Silk in 1984. From 1987 to 1996, he served as a Recorder. He was appointed as Judge of the High Court, Queen’s Bench Division in 1996 and has served as a Judge of the Commercial Court since 1996. From 1998 to 2001 he has served as a Presiding Judge of the Wales and Chester Circuit. Since 2002 he has been Judge in Charge of the Commercial Court.
