The Queen has approved the appointment of Miss Deborah Bull CBE as a Governor of the British Broadcasting Corporation. The appointment is for a period of four years with effect from 1 August 2003.

  1. This is a part-time appointment. The Governor post is remunerated at the level of £15,640 per year for a time commitment of one and a half days per week.
  2. Deborah Bull has been Artistic Director for new, small-scale developmental work at the Royal Opera House (ROH2) since 2002, and previously was in charge of the ROH Artists’ Development Initiative for three years. She had a 20-year career with The Royal Ballet until 2001, reaching the rank of Principal Dancer, touring and organising performances. She has written and presented several programmes and series for the BBC including The Dancer’s Body (2002) and Breaking the Law (2001). Since 1998 she has been a member of Arts Council England and served on the board of the South Bank Centre from 1997 to 2003. She has not undertaken any significant political activity in the last five years.
