The Prime Minister has re-appointed Mrs Paula Ridley OBE as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Victoria & Albert Museum with effect from 1 November 2003 for a further period of four yearss.
Biographical notes
Paula Ridley OBE has been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Victoria & Albert Museum since November 1998. Prior to this, she was a Trustee of the Tate Gallery for ten years, Chairman of Tate Liverpool, and a Trustee of the National Gallery. She is Director of the UK branch of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Chair of the Liverpool Housing Action Trust (an NDPB). Other public appointments have included the Board of the Merseyside Development Corporation until 1998, and the Board of the Independent Broadcasting Authority 1982 to 1988. She was a member of the Royal Commission on Long Term Care for the Elderly.
She is on the Council of University of Liverpool, Honorary Vice President of the Merseyside Civic Society, and a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Merseyside.
Mrs Ridley has not been involved in any political activity in the last five years.

The Victoria & Albert Museum houses collections of fine and applied art, craft and design. It includes the National Art Library, and the Trustees also manage the Theatre Museum, the National Museum of Childhood at Bethnal Green and the Wellington Museum at Apsley House. Trustees of the Victoria & Albert Museum are not remunerated.
