British Museum Trustees

The Prime Minister has appointed Valerie Gooding CBE as a Trustee of the British Museum. The appointment will be for a period of four years from 1 January 2004.

Biographical Note

Valerie Gooding CBE has been the Chief Executive of the BUPA Group since 1998. She previously held senior positions at British Airways, including Director of Asia Pacific and Director of Business Units. She is a non-executive director of BAA plc and Compass Group plc, a member of the Council of Warwick University, co-Chair of the Advisory Board of Warwick Business School, and a member of the Leadership Team for Opportunity Now, a business led campaign run by the independent charity Business in the Community.

Valerie Gooding holds no other public appointments and has not carried out any political activity in the last five years.

The collections derive from all continents and represent over 10,000 years of human history.
