The Queen has approved the nomination of the Reverend Hueston Edward Finlay, BAI, BTh, MA, PhD, Dean of Chapel, Magdalene College, Cambridge, to be appointed to the Canonry of Saint George's Chapel, Windsor in succession to the Reverend Canon Barry Pearce Thompson BSc, MA, PhD on his resignation on
9 October 2002.

The Reverend Dr Hueston Finlay (born 1964) was educated first at Wesley College Dublin and then read Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. He teturned to the same University to read Theology and later gained a doctorate from London University. He served his first curacy at Kilkenney with Aghour and Kilmanagh in the diocese of Cashel and Ossory from 1989 to 1992, whilst also serving as the Bishop of Ossory's Domestic Chaplain and as Librarian and Registrar at Kilkenny Cathedral for the same period. From 1990 to 1992 he was Bishop's Vicar at Ossory Cathedral. From 1992 to 1995 he was Chaplain at Girton College, Cambridge, and curate of Cambridge Great Saint Mary with Saint Michael, in the diocese of Ely. He was made Chaplain and Fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge in 1995 and since 1999 he has been Dean of Chapel. For the past eight years he has been the College's Director of Studies in Theology and has also served as a Tutor.
Hueston Finlay is married to Annegret, and they have three children Svea (12), Lars (7) and Karsten (4).
His recreations include squash, chess and fishing.
