Trustees of the Board of The National Maritime Museum

The Prime Minister has today reappointed Joe Abrams OBE and Patricia Rothman as Trustees of the Board of the National Maritime Museum, for terms of 2 years and 4 years respectively, commencing on 20 August 2004. Both Trustees were first appointed on 20 August 1999.

Biographical Notes

Joe Abrams OBE is retired Head of the Upper School, Bow Boys School. He has been involved in local government for over 25 years (an ex-Mayor of the London Borough of Merton) and is a former Deputy Chair of the Commission for Racial Equality. He is Chair of the Valuation Tribunal for London SW, a member of the Reserve Forces Appeal Tribunal, a member of the Pay Review Body for the Prison Service and a member of the Employment Tribunal for London South.

Patricia Rothman is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Mathematics Department at University College London and has lectured in mathematics to scientists for 25 years. She has a particular interest in scientific instruments, is the author of a book on women in the history of mathematics, and has published numerous scientific papers. She is Past President of UCL’s Alumnus Association, Chairman of the UCL Lunch Hour Lecture Committee, and is also a council member of the Friends of the National Maritime Museum.
