The Queen has approved the nomination of the Reverend David John Stanton MTheol, FSAScot, MA, FRSA, Vicar of Bovey Tracy St John with Heathfield and Rural Dean of Moreton, to be appointed to the Canonry in the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, Worcester, in succession to the Reverend Canon Reginald Bruce Ruddock on his translation to Peterborough.

The Reverend David Stanton (born 1960) was educated first at St Andrews University and then Ripon College. He undertook graduate studies at Plymouth University and has gained an MA from Exeter University. He served his curacy at St George’s, Beckenham in the diocese of Rochester from 1985 to 1988.
From 1988 to 1990 he was Assistant Chaplain at Shrewsbury School and Honorary Chaplain at All Saints with Saint Michael, Lichfield. From 1990 to 1994 he was Priest-in-Charge at St Mary’s Abbotskerswell in the diocese of Exeter, and from 1992 to 1997 was also Chaplain of Pymouth University.
In 1994 he became Priest-in-Charge, and subsequently Vicar, of St John’s Bovey Tracey in the Exeter diocese, and from 1998 he has been Rural Dean of Moreton. Since 1995 he has been Diocesan Vocational Adviser, and Warden of Readers since 1996.
David Stanton is married to Sarah, and they have two daughters.
His recreations include cricket and fly-fishing.
