The Queen has been pleased to appoint Lieutenant Colonel Grenville Johnston Esq OBE TD KCSG CA as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Moray following the retirement of Air Vice-Marshal George Chesworth CB OBE DFC.
Biographical Notes
Lieutenant Colonel Grenville Johnston (60) has been a Deputy Lieutenant since 1980 and Vice Lord-Lieutenant since 1996. He recently retired from the Elgin based family firm of chartered accountants, W D Johnston and Carmichael. Mr Johnston is a board member of Highland and Islands Airports Limited and a trustee of the National Museums of Scotland. He is a former vice-chairman of Gordonstoun School (1985 to1999) and former chairman of the Grampian and Shetland Committee of the Royal Jubilee and Prince’s Trusts (1980 to 1991). He is also a former member of the Grampian Committee of the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (1989 to 1997), Moray Enterprise Trust (1985 to 1993) and Moray, Badenoch and Strathspey Local Enterprise Company Limited (1990 to 1993); and former secretary of Moray Health Council (1975 to 1991). He is a chairman of the Highland Area Reserve Forces and Cadets Association and a former chairman of its Northern Area (1999 to 2001).
Lieutenant Colonel Grenville Johnston is married to Marylyn and has two grown up daughters Heather and Maryann.
