Public Works Loan Board

The Queen has been pleased to approve that, under the Public Works Loan Act 1946, Brian Tanner, Mei Sim Lai and Gordon Edwards be re-appointed as Commissioners for the Public Works Loan Board, each for a term of four years.

Biographical Notes

Brian Tanner has been a Commissioner of the PWLB since 1997. He is also Chairman of the Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust, former Chief Executive of the Somerset County Council and was President of the Society of County Treasurers from 1989 to 1990.

Mei Sim Lei has been a Commissioner since 2001. She is a partner in Pridie Brewster, a leading firm of Chartered Accountants, and is responsible for marketing and PR. She is also Pridie Brewsters representative on the Professional Marketing Services Group.

Gordon Edwards has been a Commissioner since 2001. He is a Corporate Director for Finance and ICT at Aberdeen City Council. He also acts as a financial advisor to the pension fund administered by Aberdeen City Council.

Notes for Editors

The Public Works Loan Board is responsible for administering Government loans to local authorities. Policy on lending to local authorities is determined by the Commissioners in consultation with HM Treasury, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Scottish Executive and the Welsh Assembly.
