The Prime Minister has today appointed Dan Clayton Jones as Trustee for Wales of the National Heritage Memorial Fund for a term of three years from 12 July this year.
Biographical Details
Dan Clayton Jones is currently Chair of Cord Investments (Cardiff) Limited, and Director of J & J & F Property Holdings. From 1974 to 1985 he was Marketing Manager for the Wales Tourist Board, and then European Sales Manager with the Rank Organisation. In 1985, he became Founding Partner of Crown & Company Estate Agency. He was formerly Chair of the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Deputy Chairman of the National Trust in Wales. He is Chair of Hendref Building Preservation Trust, the Cowbridge Physic Garden Trust, and of Prime Cymru. He is a Deputy Lieutenant for Mid Glamorgan since 2003, and a former High Sheriff.

The National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) is a fund of last resort which provides grants for buying items which are of outstanding interest, importance to the national heritage, and which are at risk of being developed, damaged or destroyed. The NHMF is also responsible for the distribution of the heritage share of the proceeds from the National Lottery via the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). The HLF gives financial help to projects which safeguard improved access to land, buildings, objects and collections of importance to the national heritage of the UK. It can also provide support for projects which produce wider public benefits in terms of education, access and urban regeneration.
This appointment has been made in accordance with the OCPA Code of Practice. Appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.
