14 July 2005
People across Europe took part in a two minute silence today.
It was organised in memory of those killed and injured a week ago in the London terrorist attacks.
Tony Blair observed the silence in the 10 Downing Street garden where he had been presenting police bravery awards.
Every bus in London came to a halt as people poured out of offices and shops onto the streets to pay their silent tribute.
A book of condolence has been opened in Trafalgar Square, where a candlelit vigil will begin later this evening.
