The Queen has been pleased to approve that John Lawrence, the Lord Whitty, be sworn of Her Majesty’s most honourable Privy Council.

The Lord Whitty: Was a Government Whip, from 1997 to 1998 before being appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (formerly the Department for the Environment, Transport and the Regions), where he served from 1998 to 2005.
