Appointment of Residentiary Canonry to Westminster Abbey

The Queen has approved that the Reverend Canon Jane Barbara Hedges BA, be appointed to the Residentiary Canonry in Westminster Abbey in succession to the Venerable David Handley Hutt MA AKC on his resignation on 31 August 2005.

The Reverend Canon Jane Hedges (born 1955) was educated at Durham University and Cranmer Hall, Durham.  She served a curacy at Holy Trinity with St Columba, Fareham from 1980 to 1983.  She then became Team Vicar in the Southampton City Centre Team Ministry from 1983 to 1988 before becoming Diocesan Stewardship Adviser in Portsmouth diocese for five years. 

From 1993 to 2001 she was Canon Pastor at Portsmouth Cathedral.  Since 2001 she has been Team Rector in the Honiton Team Ministry and also Rural Dean of Honiton since 2002.

Canon Hedges is married to Chris and they have two sons.  Her interests include travelling, sport, walking and music.
