Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution

The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Professor Lynda May Warren as a member of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution for a term of three years with effect from 1st October 2005.

Biographical Note

Professor Warren started her academic career as a biologist, with a particular interest in ecology, and moved into the field of environmental law andpolicy. She is an elected Fellow of the Institute of Biology (FIBiol) and a Chartered Biologist.

She was appointed to only the second chair in Environmental Law in the UK (in 1996) and she was awarded an Emeritus Chair on her early retirement.

Professor Warren is a member of several Government sponsored committees and Non Departmental Public Bodies. She is currently a trustee of the Association of River Trusts and of the West and South Wales Wildlife Trust.

She is also a board member of the British Geological Survey, a board member of the Environment Agency and a committee member of the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM). She has been a council member of the Marine Conservation Society, a trustee of WWF-UK and a council member of the Countryside Council for Wales.
