New Knighthoods Conferred

The Queen has been pleased to approve that the honour of Knighthood be conferred upon David Jones QC, David Kitchin QC, Brian Langstaff QC and Peter Openshaw QC DL on their appointment as Justices of the High Court.

David Lloyd Jones: Born 1952. Educated at Downing College, Cambridge University. Called to Bar, Middle Temple, 1975; a Recorder since 1994; Junior Crown Counsel (Common Law), 1997-99; QC, 1999; Assistant Commissioner, Parliamentary Boundary Commission for Wales, 1996-2002.

David James Tyson Kitchin: Born 1955 and educated at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University. Called to the Bar, Gray’s Inn, 1977; QC, 1994; entered chambers of Thomas Blanco White, 1979; Deputy High Court Judge, 2001; appointed to hear Trade Mark Appeals, 2001; Bencher, 2003.

Brian Frederick James Langstaff: Born 1948 and educated at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge and Inns of Court School of Law. Called to Bar, Middle Temple, 1971; QC, 1994; a Recorder since 1995; Called to the Bar of Northern Ireland, 1999; Judge, Empolyment Appeal Tribunal, 2000-03; Bencher, 2001; Head of Cloisters Chambers, 2002-.

Charles Peter Lawford Openshaw: Born 1947 and educated at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge. Called to the Bar, Inner Temple, 1970; Recorder, 1988-99; Bencher, 2003; Deputy Lieutenant for Lancashire, 2000.
