Clerk of the House of Commons

The Queen has been pleased to approve that Mr Malcolm Jack, Clerk of Legislation, House of Commons, be appointed Clerk of the House of Commons in succession to Sir Roger Sands KCB, who is retiring on 30 September 2006.

Notes for Editors

Mr Jack, who is 59, has been Clerk of Legislation since 2003. He was educated at the University of Liverpool and at the London School of Economics. He became a Clerk of the House of Commons in 1967 and has served as Clerk of the Journals and Clerk to the Joint Committee on House of Lords Reform.

Sir Roger Sands was Clerk Assistant, House of Commons, from 2001 until being appointed Clerk of the House on 1 January 2003.
