The Queen has been pleased to appoint Brigadier Melville Stewart Jameson CBE DL as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Perth and Kinross upon the retirement of Sir Basil Henry David Montgomery Bt JP on 20 March 2006.
Biographical Notes:
Brigadier Jameson (61) was commissioned into the Royal Scots Greys in 1965 and served with the regiment in Germany, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, the Middle East and Edinburgh. Following a tour as Chief of Staff 52 Lowland Brigade, he commanded the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards from 1986 to 1988. He was then posted as Instructor to Joint Service Defence College, Greenwich and subsequently served on the Military Secretary’s staff, Ministry of Defence. He commanded 51 Highland Brigade from 1994 to 1996. He has been Producer of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo since 1995 and Chief Executive since 1998. The Brigadier is Colonel of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards; and an officer in the Royal Company of Archers, The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland.
Brigadier Jameson is married to Sarah and they have two sons. His interests include shooting, trees, gardening, polo and the Highland bagpipes.
