Appointment of Lord Justice of Appeal

The Queen has been pleased to approve that The Honourable Mr Justice Leveson be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal following the retirement of Lord Justice Brooke on 30 September 2006.

Biographical Note

The Honourable Mr Justice (Brian) Leveson (57) was called to the Bar, by the Middle Temple, in 1970. He was a Recorder of the Crown Court from 1988 to 2000, a deputy High Court Judge from 1998 to 2000, and has been a Judge of the High Court, Queen’s Bench Division since 2000. He was Presiding Judge on the Northern Circuit from 2002 to 2005, and then with effect from 1 January 2006 became Deputy Senior Presiding Judge for England and Wales.
