The Queen has approved the nomination of the Reverend Canon Geoffrey Seagrave Pearson BA, to the Suffragan See of Lancaster, in the Diocese of Blackburn, in succession to the Right Reverend Geoffrey Stephen Pedley, on his resignation on 30 November 2005.

Geoffrey Pearson (born 1951) studied for the ordained ministry at Cranmer Hall. He served his curacy at Kirheaton in Wakefield Diocese from 1974 to 1977 and was Curate-in-Charge then Vicar of Blackburn, The Redeemer, from 1977 to 1985. He was Assistant Home Secretary General of the Board for Mission and Unity from 1985 to 1989, Honorary Curate of Forty Hill, Jesus Church from 1985 to 1989 and also Executive Secretary British Council of Churches Evangalism Committee from 1986 to 1989. He has been Vicar of Roby, Liverpool Diocese from 1989 and Area Dean of Huyton since 2002.
Geoffrey Pearson is married to Jean, a hospital chaplain and they have three grown up children. His interests include hill walking in the Lake District, sports - especially running and football - and he is a keen supporter of Liverpool Football Club. He enjoys the cinema and particularly the works of 19th century author George MacDonald.
