The Queen has been pleased to appoint Dame Lorna Elizabeth Fox Muirhead DL as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Merseyside upon the retirement of Alan Waterworth Esq JP in September.
Biographical Notes
Dame Lorna Muirhead (aged 63) has been a Deputy Lieutenant for Merseyside since 2003. She has spent much of her working life as a Midwifery Sister at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, formally Liverpool Maternity Hospital. She was President of the Royal College of Midwives from 1997 to 2004. Dame Lorna lectured part-time at Liverpool Polytechnic from 1975 to 1980 and has been a frequent lecturer elsewhere. She is an honorary Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University and a Fellow of the Royal College of Midwives and of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Dame Lorna is married and has a son and a daughter.
